For the oats

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 2 cups milk (or plant-based milk) Use almond milk or oat milk for a dairy-free option.
  • 1 cup diced apples Peeled if desired.
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup (or honey)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

For topping (optional)

  • Chopped nuts or seeds
  • Extra apple slices
  • A sprinkle of cinnamon

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats and diced apples. Stir well to distribute the apples evenly.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, maple syrup, cinnamon, and vanilla extract until well mixed.
  • Pour the liquid mixture over the oats and apples, and stir until everything is thoroughly combined.
  • Divide the mixture into jars or containers, sealing them tightly. Refrigerate overnight or for at least 4 hours.
  • When ready to serve, give the oats a good stir and add your desired toppings.

Notes

Best results: Use rolled oats instead of instant oats for a better texture. For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or some chopped pecans. This recipe can be prepared a few days in advance for meal prep. Store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
