Ingredients

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 4 cups cut green beans (canned, frozen, or fresh)
  • 1 1/3 cups crispy French fried onions, divided
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Drain canned beans, thaw frozen ones if desired, or blanch fresh beans for 2 minutes in boiling water. Drain thoroughly.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth. Stir in soy sauce for umami depth.
  • Add green beans and 2/3 cup of the fried onions. Season with pepper and mix until evenly coated.
  • Spray a 9x9-inch or 1.5–2 quart casserole dish with non-stick spray. Spread the mixture evenly in the dish.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake for 25 minutes, stir, then sprinkle remaining onions on top. Bake 5 more minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
  • Let rest 5 minutes before serving warm alongside turkey, ham, or your favorite holiday entrée.

Notes

Tip: Always add the fried onions at the end of baking so they stay crispy and golden!
