Ingredients
  

For the Pork

  • 3-4 pounds pork shoulder Shoulder cut is best for shredding.
  • 1 piece onion, sliced Enhances flavor during cooking.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Adds aromatic flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar Can be replaced with coconut sugar for paleo version.
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

For the Sauce

  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand) Customize with your preferred flavor.

For Serving

  • Buns for sandwiches Accompany the pulled pork.

Preparation

  • Place the sliced onion and minced garlic at the bottom of the Crock Pot.
  • In a bowl, mix salt, pepper, paprika, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar, then rub this mixture all over the pork shoulder.
  • Place the pork shoulder in the Crock Pot, and pour BBQ sauce over the top.

Cooking

  • Cover and cook on low for 8–10 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.
  • Once cooked, shred the pork with two forks and stir it into the sauce, making sure each piece is well coated.

Serving

  • Serve on buns with additional BBQ sauce if desired.

Notes

For enhanced flavor, marinate pork with seasoning overnight. You can substitute chicken thighs for a lighter option and adjust the BBQ sauce for different flavor profiles.
