  • to taste Optional: fresh herbs (like thyme or rosemary) These can enhance flavor.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Begin by generously seasoning the beef short ribs with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Arrange the seasoned ribs in the crockpot, ensuring they are somewhat layered but not overcrowded for even cooking.
  • In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the beef broth, soy sauce, barbecue sauce, and Worcestershire sauce until well blended.

Cooking

  • Carefully pour the sauce mixture over the ribs in the crockpot, making sure they are well-covered.
  • Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the ribs are tender and easily pull away from the bone.
  • Optional: Broil the ribs in the oven for a few minutes before serving for a crispy outer layer.

Notes

For best results, let the ribs marinate with the seasonings overnight in the refrigerator. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
