Easy 10-Minute Fresh Tomato Salsa (Pico de Gallo Style)

Ingredients
  

The Core Four

  • 2-3 large ripe heirloom or vine-ripened tomatoes finely diced
  • 1/2 medium red onion finely diced
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro roughly chopped
  • 1 whole lime juiced
  • to taste salt and black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Finely dice the tomatoes and red onion. Roughly chop the fresh cilantro.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, red onion, and chopped cilantro.
  • Squeeze the lime juice over the mixture and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  • Stir gently until well combined.
  • Let the salsa rest for 10–15 minutes at room temperature to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning with more lime or salt if needed. Serve fresh.

Notes

For extra heat, add a diced jalapeño or serrano pepper. For a smoother restaurant-style salsa, pulse ingredients in a food processor. Salsa can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
